Physical Activity

What is an Active School?

The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often.

Easter Hat Fun

3rd class had a fantastic Easter themed obstacle course on the yard. The children designed Easter hats and wore these while having great fun completing obstacle courses, skipping and having great fun with their classmates!

Love Run

The children in 3rd class did a Love Run with their teachers. It was great fun to dress up as love bugs, create amazing hats and run a distance of 2km each. They trained twice per week on P.E. days to build up to 2km.

Santa Run

Lots of classes took part in a Santa Run on the school yard before Christmas. There was great fun as the children raced around with Santa hats and ran 1km each! Well done to all the classes and teachers who took part!

Active Class Activities

Lots of classes are doing exercises throughout the school day! This is a great way to keep our concentration levels high.
Go Noodle and Just Dance are our favourites! We are also enjoying 10@10 as part of Operation Transformation. The Active Committee gave each class a folder with some active activities that can be used in the classroom written on lollipop sticks both in English and as Gaeilge.

Run Around Europe

Every class in the school took part in Run Around Europe at the beginning of the school year. We went outside for 10 minutes each day and ran as many laps as we could. Then we added up the total number of laps for each class. Mr. Sweetnam’s class collated the scores and added them to the total from each house. Many classes ran the distance to Turkey which is over 3000km away! Well done to all the boys and girls who took part!
